On July 8th, my black doe (Aria) and my chocolate doe (Reese) each had their debut litters.
Aria had a total of 9, which completely shocked me-- I've never had a doe have more than 7 kits her first time around. Unfortunately, her milk ended up coming in late. Although I fostered several over to Reese, a few of the runtier ones did not make it. Thankfully though, her remaining kits are doing well. (3 selfs, 2 charlies, and 1 black marked.)
Reese had her kits on the wire, but has otherwise been a great mom. She only had four, and all of her kits are comically plump. I'm already pleased with her kits though, and I'm excited to see how they mature-- although I'm trying not to get ahead of myself! (2 black marked, 1 chocolate marked, 1 charlie.)
Now that all the kits are thriving, I'm anxiously awaiting them to hit that magic 2-3 week mark. I am convinced that there is not anything cuter than watching a spunky, fluffy ES kit exit the nest box for the first time.
